读书是一辈子每天都要做的事情。 在李笑来老师的影响下，我也开始读书，开始读英文书，不仅读，我还听。 今天我读的是E.B.While为感谢他的老师Strunk对他写作的影响，和老师合著的经典写作书籍 The Elements of Style. 该书第一章讲英文的基础使用规则，里面讲到很多我以前知道中文却不知英文的语法术语，比如下面段落中的非限制性定语从句、插入语和先行词。 “Nonrestrictive relative clauses （非限制性定语从句）are parenthetic（插入语）, as are similar clauses introduced by conjunctions indicating time or place. Commas are therefore needed. A nonrestrictive clause is one that does not serve to identify or define the antecedent noun（先行词）.  下面是三个非限制定语从句前用逗号的例句： The audience, which had at first been indifferent, became more and more interested. In 1769, when Napoleon was born, Corsica had but recently been acquired by France. White. “The Elements of Style。” 我想，当年我在学英语语法时，也应该用英文来学英文语法，而不是把直接用中文去学语法，就是教师用英文教英文。这样不仅能学习语法专业术语的英文词汇，还可以有更多英文阅读和听力的文本输入。大量的输入，大量的运用英语，才有可能学好这门语言。 今天，我们的小学生、中学生、大学生和成人学员，在英语学习上的主要问题还是输入量不够。海量的阅读和听力，有机会就用，才能学好英语。 对了，差点忘记了点题，先行词就是antecedent noun.
